Class
description:
There are 17
students in 5th D (2 girls, and
15 boys) and 16 students in 5th C (7 girls and 11 boys), all
between ten and eleven years old. They have English classes twice a week on
Mondays and Fridays, each lesson lasts 40 minutes. Most of them have been
studying English for 1 year (this being the second
year). On Mondays, 5thC have classes at 16:10 (after the break)
until 16:50; they usually are full of energy and excited. 5th D
has classes from 16.50 to 17.30, as it is the last module they are usually
tired and distracted because they want to go home.

Main aim(s):
To identify
and remember some of the places in town and what kind of food they can buy in
them.
To
practice listening macro-skill by playing a bingo and reading macro-skill by
reading statements in order to complete an activity.

Subsidiary
aim(s):
1. Revise the use
of there is/ there are for identifying the number
of places on the poster.
2. Introduce the topic through the use of flashcards and posters related to the
topic.

Personal
aim(s):
I will ask the students where they can buy different kinds of food so that they can infer it from the
poster pasted on the blackboard.
|
Timetable fit:
In the last lessons, the students have studied there
is/ there are related to insects. In
this lesson, I am going to introduce a new topic while using and reinforcing
this grammatical aspect.

revises vocabulary about daily routines using flashcards.

I’m going to start the class singing “today it’s Monday” “If you’re happy and you know it Clap your
hands”. Then, I’m going to ask for a volunteer to paste the flashcard
with the month and the weather and write the date on the blackboard. Then,
I’m going to ask the children how they are feeling today.

going to paste the poster with a city and flashcards of different food on the
black board, and she is going to point at the flashcards and ask them where
in the shops in the poster they think they can buy the food. Then, the
teacher asks them if they go shopping to
a supermarket, greengrocer, etc.

The teacher is
going to ask the students to go to the page 41 and do activity 2 which
consists of labelling the different pictures of places with the correct name.

The teacher is
going to give the students a chart, where they have to write in a column
(with the name of different shops) the different type of food they can buy in
there.
2.
So as to check
the activity, the teacher draws the chart on
the black board, and she asks them to go the blackboard, choose a flashcard
and paste it in the corresponding column.

Writing: having the students interact with each other using
the vocabulary seen.

The teacher is
going to give the students a chart where they have to do a survey asking
their classmates if they like or don’t like the food which appears in the
photocopy given. There, they have to write their classmates answer. For
example, Benjamin doesn’t like fish.

The teacher is going to give the students a
cardboard with different pictures of food. Then the teacher takes out of a
hat a picture of a certain food, vegetable or fruit and the children who have the food, vegetable or fruit in his/her
cardboard marks it with a piece of cork (provided by the teacher). The one
who completes all the cardboard wins.
